Faro Card Game

FaroFaro is a gambling game that became popular in Europe in the 18th century. It originated in France in the 17th century. Many players compare it to poker because they have some similarities. Both games have rules that are easy to learn and both are fast-paced experiences. The difference between the two games is that you have odds of winning at Faro than you do at poker.

Over the years, Faro has declined in popularity but some players are still interested in playing it. If you are one of those people interested in Faro, you can read below. Our guide has sections on how to play Faro, the game’s history, and tips to help you win the game.

Basic Rules of Faro

Faro is easy to play. In most cases, with any game, understanding the rules is the best way to learn how to play the casino game. Once you understand the rules, it becomes easier to follow the game.

Any number of people can play Faro, but one must act as the banker. A game usually runs for about 10 to15 minutes. A single deck of cards is used. The house or casino will determine the value of bets, stakes, and chips.

Faro has a standard betting layout with 13 cards face-up on the table. The cards will be in numerical order and placed in two rows. The suit of spades is used to represent the denomination for all the other suits.

There are three different ways for players to place their bets. You can choose to place a bet on one of the 13 cards, on multiple cards, or on a high card. The high card will be at the head of the two rows and placed by the banker.

Betting Limits

There are two kinds of bet sizes in Faro: the plain and the running limit. The plain limit is a max starting bet. The running limit is higher than the plain limit, and the banker determines it.

Faro Card Game

Placing Bets

As we have mentioned, there is a set of 13 cards on the table that you can choose to bet on. What’s more, there are various ways you can place bets. To place a wager, place your chip on the card you want to place a bet on.

If you place the chip in the center of the card, it indicates that you are betting on that card alone.

When you place the chip on the center of the table near four cards, it means you are betting on those cards.

There is also the option to bet on two cards that are diagonal by placing the chip on the card’s corner.

Another option is to bet on three cards. Place the chip in the direction of the end of the table, with the distance being the same from the chip to the cards.

The last bet option is to place a bet on the high card. The winning card has to be higher than the losing card for this bet to win.

How to Play Faro Card Game Online

Faro has 25 betting rounds, which start with the soda and ends with the last card drawn (also known as hock). After each turn, the bets are settled, and the next turn starts with new bets. When the deck has been used up, the cards will be collected and reshuffled.

Here is a step by step guide on how to play Faro:

  1. The banker shuffles the cards and places the cards in the shoe.
  2. The banker will deal one card from the shoe face down.
  3. Two cards will be removed. One will be the player’s losing card, which is the banker card. The other one is the player’s card. The cards are placed next to the dealing box, one on the right and the other on the left, respectively.
  4. The banker will keep drawing two cards until there are only three cards left in the dealing box. Players will have the chance to bet on the three remaining cards. They have to predict the order of the cards. If the order is correct, you win a 4:1 payout.
