Basic Blackjack Rules

  • The objective of any blackjack game is to beat the dealer without going over 21.
  • Blackjack games will usually use a 52-card pack. However, some casinos will use several decks. The most popular deck is the six-deck game.
  • Cards values that have faces are worth 10, the other cards keep their face value, excluding the Ace, which will count as 1 or 11 depending on the hand.
  • You will have to place your bets before the game begins by placing your chips in the designated area. There will be a minimum and maximum of how much you can bet at a time.
  • The cards will be shuffled, and you will be dealt two cards face up, and the dealer will have two cards with one facing up.
  • If your first two cards are an ace and a ten-valued card, that gives you a count as a natural 21, and you win. You will receive your payout. The same will apply if it is the dealer who has a natural blackjack.
  • If you and the dealer both have a natural blackjack, then it is a tie, and you will take back your chips.
  • When there is no natural blackjack, you have to check your cards to decide whether you will stand or hit. When you stand, you are not requesting another card, while when you hit, you will be dealt another card. If you choose to hit, you will continue until you bust or stand a total that is under 21.
  • The dealer will reveal their face down card when you have been dealt your cards. If the hand total is 17 or more, the dealer will stand. If the hand is 16 and under, the dealer will get another card until the total is 17 or more, and then he will stand.
  • There are other options excluding to stand and hit. You can choose to double down, which means you will double your bet and get another card. There is also the option to split cards to split your two cards, creating two hands. You always have to split two of the same cards. And the two hands have to have their bets.
